Ordering a Flag Flown Over the U.S. Capitol

Flags flown over the nation's Capitol Building are a great way to commemorate a special occasion, organization, event or loved one.

Flags can be flown on any specific date, including weekends and holidays.  Along with the flag, the Architect of the Capitol issues an official certificate, with a short and personalized message.  For example, "This flag was flown for John Doe on the occasion of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout on April 3, 2008."

If you would like a flag flown on a specific date, it must be requested four to six weeks in advance (alternative dates are recommended). Please note that our office cannot guarantee the delivery of flags by specific dates, ceremonies or occasions.

Flag Request Instructions

To purchase a flag that has flown over the Capitol, please complete the following three steps:

1) Complete and print Flag Order Form PDF

2) Include a check payable to "Office Supply Account, Congressman Brian Higgins" for the appropriate amount. Please do not send cash.

3) Mail a completed form and check to:
