El Paso, Aug 10, 2011 - Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) will deliver opening remarks at this year’s Industry Day-Veterans Job Fair, “Building Towards the Future.” Sponsored by the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Labor in conjunction with Congressman Silvestre Reyes and the El Paso Small Business Consortium, “Building Towards the Future” will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Camino Real hotel. 

“I invite all El Paso Veterans, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to participate in this year’s Industry Day-Veterans Job Fair and to take advantage of the resources and tools that will be made available,” said Congressman Reyes.  “Pursuing federal contracting opportunities can be intimidating, but this conference provides the community with the opportunity to learn about the process, while also networking with many key individuals”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with various federal, state, local governments and key contractors including: El Paso Independent School District (EPISD), Socorro Independent School District (SISD), Region 19 Education Service Center, University of Phoenix, City of El Paso, Fort Bliss Water Services, White Sands Missile Range, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CPB), Holloman Air Force Base, and many others. 

Veterans Agencies and Veterans Service Organizations will also be present to provide information regarding veterans’ education benefits, training, health benefits and assistance with VA disability claims. 

The Veterans Job Fair is free and open to the public. Attendance at the Industry Day will cost $40 and includes a luncheon.
