GOP DOCTORS' CAUCUS

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM CO CHAIRS:

Dr. Phil Gingrey:  Welcome to the GOP Doctors Caucus Website. I invite you to share any insight on our efforts in Congress through any of our social media outlets, which you can link to at the bottom of this page.

True health care reform can only begin with a complete repeal of Obamacare. After the the total government overhaul of our nation’s health care system, Americans still remain plagued with poor or lacking health insurance and sky-rocketing costs. Now, more than ever, Congress has a responsibility to look for ways to bring true reform to our health care system while decreasing costs and increasing access to quality care.  As providers, the Members of the GOP Doctors Caucus know firsthand the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and have a unique perspective on health care discussion.  I look forward to bringing the ideas we discuss in the GOP Doctors Caucus to the House leadership as well as the Health Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee.  We all recognize that we cannot achieve true health care reform without consensus among patients, physicians, Republicans, and Democrats.  The GOP Doctors Caucus will be on the front lines in helping to craft health care solutions that offer high quality, affordable coverage within our free market system.

Dr. Phil Roe:  I am honored to serve as Co-Chair of the Doctors Caucus for the 113th Congress. As a physician for more than 30 years, I know the complexities of our healthcare system, and because of Tennessee’s experience with TennCare, I am keenly aware of what happens when you simply expand coverage without addressing the cost of medical care. Our priority remains a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, but we will work together to address some of the worst parts of the legislation and to find ways to lower the cost of medical care, repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board, implement meaningful medical malpractice reforms and fight fiercely to preserve the doctor-patient relationship.
