Update: Important new information about tax preparation help for Vermonters

 

Do you need help preparing your taxes?

If so, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation services to Vermonters making under $42,000 per year. The program is a partnership between the IRS and the Chittenden County CASH Coalition, local United Way agencies and Community Action agencies. To find a location near you, click here or dial 2-1-1. Are you a low income taxpayer who cannot afford professional tax assistance but don't qualify for VITA?

You may qualify for help from Low Income Taxpayer Clinics.

Do you qualify for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act tax credits?

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act included a number of tax credits for homebuyers, families with children and those investing in education. Find out if you qualify for any of these credits by visiting the Recovery Act Tax Savings tool or by visiting the IRS’s ARRA information center.
