  7. The Supreme Court just announced that it will soon consider two cases on the legality of same sex marriage at the federal and state levels. This is a positive step that has the potential to strike down discriminatory laws and pave the way for marriage equality for all Americans.

New Hampshire is home to the first all-female Congressional delegation in United States history and elected Maggie Hassan to become the state's next Governor.   9. Senator Shaheen led a bipartisan group of senators in calling on the U.S. Army to increase responsiveness in pursuing contractors that have possible links to terrorist groups. There are currently 43 cases pending before the Army involving contractors with possible links to terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda and the Haqqani Network. Read more below.

  13. Senator Shaheen spoke on the Senate floor today about an amendment she sponsored that would provide women in the military who are victims of rape or incest the right to access affordable reproductive health services. Stand with our servicewomen and help protect the Shaheen Amendment.
  14. Congratulations to Mary Morin, Director of the New Hampshire State Office of Veterans Services, for being appointed to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Advisory Committee on Women Veterans. This committee is a panel of experts that advises the VA on issues and programs affecting women veterans. Mary has a terrific record of service to our state and we look forward to her bringing her strong, New Hampshire leadership to the national stage!
  15. New Hampshire has been granted a major disaster declaration for the recovery following Hurricane Sandy. The declaration, which Senator Shaheen called for in the immediate aftermath of the storm, will provide funding to help NH communities rebuild.
