Luetkemeyer Honored by National Federation of Independent Business with Small Business Award

NFIB Award

Washington, Sep 13 -

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today was honored by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) with the group’s Guardian of Small Business Award for his work on legislation seeking to create jobs for hard-working Missourians by expanding opportunities for America’s small businesses.

“As a former small businessman, I understand that small businesses are the glue that keeps our economy together by creating jobs and offering economic opportunity and as a member of Congress I am committed to giving these folks all the help they can get,” Luetkemeyer said. “I am honored that the NFIB has recognized these efforts and I remain focused on making sure small businesses have the opportunity to succeed and grow.”

Luetkemeyer has supported numerous pieces of legislation to strengthen our small businesses and create jobs  including the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act of 2012 which would extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that have helped hold down the tax rates of millions of small business people. Luetkemeyer has supported more than 30 jobs bills many of which would help small businesses that currently are awaiting Senate action. Luetkemeyer also has supported the repeal of the president’s health care plan that would impose mandates that would be devastating to small businesses that currently provide employee health care.

“In the 112th Congress, Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer proved that he is a champion of small business,” NFIB State Director Brad Jones said. “The Guardian of Small Business Award is a legislative award given to U.S. Representatives and Senators who vote to promote and protect the right of small business owners to own, operate and grow their businesses.”

Luetkemeyer is a member of the House Financial Services Committee and serves on two key subcommittees which often deal with issues affecting small businesses: Financial Institutions & Consumer Credit and Domestic Monetary Policy & Technology.

The National Federation of Independent Business is the leading small business association representing small and independent businesses. A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB represents the consensus views of its members in Washington and all 50 state capitals. The mission of the group is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.
