Hill Dems Run From WH Priorities

Jul 10, 2012

As the President has stated time and time again on the campaign trail, his top priority is raising taxes on American families and small businesses. However, even Congressional Democrats are bailing on the President’s agenda. They know better.

POLITICO:Embattled Dems Buck President Obama On Taxes.” “President Barack Obama’s renewed push to raise taxes on people who make more than $250,000 is facing some strong head winds: Democrats running for Congress in 2012. Several Democrats in critical House and Senate races say they prefer raising taxes on people who make more than $1 million, the latest example of how the president and vulnerable Democrats are mounting diverging campaigns just four months from Election Day.” (Seung Min Kim, Manu Raju & Scott Wong, ““Embattled Dems Buck President Obama On Taxes,” Politico, 7/10/12)

The Hill: “GOP: Vulnerable Democrats Will Back Healthcare Law Repeal Vote.” “House Republicans are predicting several more Democrats will join them Wednesday for the chamber’s second vote to repeal the healthcare law. Only three Democrats voted for repeal after the GOP took control of the House last year, but Republicans are confident they can add to this number on Wednesday in spite of the Supreme Court’s ruling that the law is constitutional. … North Carolina Reps. Mike McIntyre (D) and Kissell have both said they will support repeal. Kissell joined the Blue Dogs earlier this year amid a tough fight for reelection, and both men made headlines recently for declining to endorse Obama. Politico: Dem Divide Seen On Other Fronts – Dems Will Vote To Repeal ObamaCare. “The divergence can be seen on other fronts as well: A handful of vulnerable Democrats are expected to vote in favor of repealing Obama’s health care law when it comes up for a symbolic vote Wednesday in the House.” (Seung Min Kim, Manu Raju & Scott Wong, ““Embattled Dems Buck President Obama On Taxes,” Politico, 7/10/12)
