House Passed Jobs Initiatives--Stalled in Senate

Below are some of the House Republican passed bills to help spur job growth.  All of these initiatives have been stalled in the Senate.

??• H.R. 872, Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act   ?Passed the House 292-130 on March 31, 2011?The Reducing Regulator Burdens Act would amends the Clean Water Act to lift restrictive and cumbersome regulations inhibiting job growth connected to pesticide use near waterways while strengthening environmental factors that allow for cleaner bodies of water.  It would also restrict the EPA’s bureaucracy in terms of rules and regulations that in no way protect the safety of our waters.

• H.R. 910, Energy Tax Prevention Act  ?Passed the House 255-172 on April 7, 2011?The Energy Tax Prevention Act would amend the Clean Air Act by lifting restrictive and job inhibiting regulations, as it pertains to greenhouse gas emissions, while promoting alternative energies to cut down our dependence on foreign oil and lower gas prices while cutting our deficit by $300.


• H. J. Res. 37, Net Neutrality?  Passed the House 240-179 on April 8, 2011?The Net Neutrality resolution voices the nation’s displeasure with the Federal Communication Commission rules on net neutrality.  This Bill promotes job growth by allowing the private sector to take advantage of positive economic growth the internet provides.


• H. Con. Res. 34, House Republican Budget? Passed House 235-193 on April 15, 2011?This House passed resolution would establish the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2012 and sets forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2013 through 2021.  The House Republican Budget would effectively addresses our ballooning federal deficit while strengthening such important programs as Medicare and Social Security to ensure it remains solvent for all Americans.

• H.R. 1230, Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act ? Passed House 266-149 on May 5, 2011?The Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act would promote job growth in the energy sector by opening up more offshore oil leases and exploration opportunities.  Also, regulatory obstacles would be eliminated allowing for quicker job growth and further curtails our dependence on foreign oil by utilizing domestic resources.

• H.R. 1229, Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act?  Passed House 263-163 on May 11, 2011?The Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act would promote job growth in the energy sector by promoting and expediting oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico through the issue of new oil leases.  This would allow for substantial job growth while curtailing our dependence on foreign oil by utilizing domestic resources.

• H.R. 1231, Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act?  Passed House 243-179 on May 12, 2011?This bill would reverse President Obama’s kneejerk job-killing policy of halting all new energy exploration in the Gulf of Mexico.  The Obama-imposed moratorium did nothing to increase the safety of our workers while depriving countless Americans the ability to gain a paycheck.

• H.R. 2021, Jobs and Energy Permitting Act?  Passed House 253-166 on June 22, 2011?The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act would expedite the permit granting process of energy exploration in the Outer Continental Shelf.  This would amend the Clean Air Act by limiting the amount of time the EPA can take to either approve or deny permits.  While the EPA has been sitting on their hands, Americans find themselves out of work while corporations wait to hire.

• H.R. 2018, Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act?  Passed the House 239-184 on July 13, 2011?The Clean Water Cooperative Federalism would allow States to govern and regulate their environmental policies as it pertains to water resources.  This would allow for quicker job growth by eliminating the unneeded and cumbersome EPA overreach which has hindered corporate hiring while doing nothing to ensure the safety of water resources, a job best left to the States.

• H.R. 1315, Consumer Financial Protection Safety and Soundness Improvement Act? Passed House 241-173 on July 21, 2011?The Consumer Financial Protection Safety and Soundness Improvement Act would amend current law to allow for a fairer and more economically friendly regulatory environment.

•H.R. 1938, North American-Made Energy Security Act?  Passed House 279-147-1 on July 26, 2011?The North American-Made Energy Security Act would direct the President to expedite the consideration and approval of the construction and operation of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which will directly create jobs across the country.  The project has been deemed safe and will further curtail our dependence on Middle East oil.
