Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act The Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act targets nearly $100 billion a year in improper government payments that result from poor oversight on the part of federal agencies. This legislation improves transparency in government agencies, prevents improper payments, requires agencies to recover overpayments, and holds top managers at agencies accountable for improper payments or overpayments.
Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2009 The Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act will reform and improve veterans’ health services by supporting wounded veterans and their families and caregivers, expanding care for female veterans, improving mental health services, and increasing access to health care for veterans in rural areas. 
Small Business and Infrastructure Jobs Act The Small Business and Infrastructure Jobs Act will create new small business and construction jobs, spur private sector investment and hiring, and help rebuild infrastructure across the country. The bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Sandy Levin, is another important part of a larger Congressional agenda to create jobs and strengthen our economy. It passed the House on March 24, 2010.
Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act (HIRE) The Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act, which was sponsored by Rep. Alan Mollohan, was signed into law by President Obama March 18, 2010 after passing the House in June, 2009. The HIRE Act will create hundreds of thousands of new small business and construction jobs this year, spur private sector hiring, and help rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.
Keep Children Safe in Schools The Keeping All Students Safe Act, which was introduced by Rep. George Miller and passed March 3, 2010, is bipartisan legislation that would, for the first time, provide federal oversight and accountability to protect students from the use of harmful restraint and seclusion in schools.
Intelligence Authorization Act The Intelligence Authorization Act, which passed the House February 26, 2010, will increase funding for human intelligence collection and counterterrorism activities. The bill supports our intelligence officers by improving oversight of covert activities, directing essential funding for efforts abroad, and boosting foreign language capabilities to ensure that officers have the critical tools they need to carry out operations around the world.
Health Care Reform The Health Care Reform legislation, passed by House Democrats March 21, 2010, will begin to reform our nation’s broken health insurance system and establish a plan that puts Americans back in control of their health care choices, holds insurance companies accountable, and makes coverage more affordable.
