Material Damage from Hurricane Sandy- Review by Tax Assessor
If your property sustained damages as a result of Hurricane Sandy, attached is form MDSe "Assessment Review Form" to notify the Tax Assessor of material damage to your structure (s). Tree damge and landscaping items are not considered in the assessment process. This form and any supporting documentation must be submitted to the Assessor's Office by January 10, 2013 for consideration. There will be no follow-up correspondence after your form has been submitted.
If repairs will be completed by January 1, 2013, no adjustment will be made to the assessment. However, adjustments to the assessments for 2013 are temporary until the damage (s) are repaired.
Submission of the "Assessment Review Form, MDSe" does not automatically imply there will be a resulting change in your assessment. This form is NOT an appeal form. If you are dissatisfied with the assessment placed on your property for 2013, you will have the customary recourse of filling an appeal with the Passaic County Board of Taxation by April 1, 2013.

Disaster Recovery Center-Damages from Hurricane Sandy
Residents who received damage from Hurricane Sandy can register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or register on line at www.fema.gov.
A DRC (Disaster Recovery Center) has been opened at The Old County Administration Bldg, 317 Pennsylvania Ave. 1 st Fl., Paterson. At this time the hours of operation are 7 days a week from 8 am to 6 pm. This center is open for residents and businesses who received damage from Hurricane Sandy. The DRC has representatives from FEMA and the SBA (Small Business Administration). If assistance is needed in registering there are representatives at this site who will assist residents affected by Hurricane Sandy register.
