Rep. Burton Votes to Repeal Obamacare

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN-05) issued the following statement after voting to repeal President Obama’s healthcare tax and pave the way for patient-centered, affordable care:

“With the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Obama’s health care tax, it is imperative for the Congress to act swiftly to reverse this deeply flawed law. Not only does it represent a blatant government intrusion into personal lives, but it also stands to become the largest middle class tax increase in American history. With our National Debt at nearly $16 trillion dollars, it would be irresponsible for us not to repeal a piece of legislation that stands to fiscally break the back of our embattled economy.

“Every day Hoosiers have been forced to navigate our struggling economy.  As long as Obamacare remains law, our Nation's healthcare and fiscal stability will remain shrouded in uncertainty.  We must institute a financially practical plan that focuses on lowering the cost of insurance and provides patient-centered care without further bloating the already unmanageable federal bureaucracy.”
