Congressman Silvestre Reyes (TX-16) will participate in community service events with students from Cielo Vista Elementary School and Eastwood High School on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Congressman Reyes will kick-off the
2nd annual El Paso Service Challenge to encourage students to volunteer during the month of September. September 11, 2010 is the National Day of Service and Remembrance, honoring the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Tomorrow, Congressman Reyes and students will assemble and deliver food boxes for the West Texas Food Bank in recognition of Hunger Awareness Month.

Congressman Silvestre Reyes will participate in community service events with students from Cielo Vista Elementary School and Eastwood High School to kick-off the
2nd Annual El Paso Service Challenge in recognition of the upcoming 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Congressman Reyes will speak to students about the importance of engaging in community service and challenge them to volunteer throughout the month of September. Congressman Reyes will also encourage students to participate in supporting efforts to end domestic hunger and consider volunteering their time to the West Texas Food Bank in recognition of Hunger Awareness Month.
All El Paso area students are encouraged to volunteer in a community service related activity throughout the month of September 2011. Students will track their service hours, and submit their documentation to school officials who will verify their volunteer efforts. School officials will submit names and hours of all students who completed the challenge by September 30, 2011 to Congressman Reyes’ office.
All students who volunteer in a community service activity before September 30, 2011 will be recognized on Congressman Reyes’ website and receive a Congressional Certificate acknowledging their service.
