EPCC

Washington, D.C., Aug 10 - Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) announced today that El Paso Community College (EPCC) will be awarded $588,797 in federal funds from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  The office of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences announced that EPCC’s project “RISE to the challenge” will receive the funding on October 10 of this year.

The funds will be utilized by EPCC for advances in Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research.

“As a proud El Paso Community College alumnus, I am extremely proud of their steadfast dedication to the areas of research and innovation and the important work they do on behalf of our community,” said Congressman Reyes.  “These federal funds will allow EPCC to provide students with more opportunities in health related research, and in turn they will help provide solutions to health challenges El Pasoans and the community are faced with.”

The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
