Price: “The American people deserve better.”

Washington, D.C.– House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) responded to emails initially obtained by Reuters that raise additional questions about what the White House and the U.S. Department of State initially knew about the nature of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya, saying:

“These emails add to the growing list of serious questions about what top officials from the Obama Administration initially knew about the attacks on Americans in Benghazi and about who was responsible just hours after the assault began. At the very least, they demand that, on behalf of the American people, we continue to ask why the Obama Administration attempted to so adamantly and publicly push an alternative narrative about the attacks for more than two weeks after four Americans were killed. It is a narrative that appears to have been, from almost the very beginning, in doubt.

“This administration has been marked by a foreign policy that is weak and ineffective, refusing to acknowledge America’s unique role in the world and the opportunities and challenges that come with it. And President Obama has failed to lead at a time when our nation – and our world – so desperately requires it. The American people deserve better.”
