WADESBORO, NC - Rep. Larry Kissell (NC-08) visited farms across the region last week, including Bishop Farm in Anson County.
Kissell was joined for the visit by Edgar Miller, Director of Government Relations of Conservation Trust for North Carolina, and Jason Walser, Executive Director of Land Trust for Central North Carolina. The tour focused on the importance of promoting agricultural research and protecting North Carolina farms and farmers.
“It was great to see the different operations on these farms,” said Kissell. “Farmers throughout North Carolina work hard to ensure that we are well fed and we must do everything we can to protect them, their farms and the way of life they make possible. I will always advocate for our farmers and make sure that folks in Washington remember how important North Carolina agriculture is here at home, and beyond the Carolinas.”
Walser discussed the purpose of the tours and thanked Kissell for his strong support of North Carolina farmers and for taking the time to once again visit with regional agriculture producers.
“We showed Congressman Kissell a variety of ways the Farm Bill impacts a variety of Americans, from commercial and industrial farmers to small farmers to individuals working to improve wildlife habitat and ecological protection,” said Walser. “We are pleased he took the time to meet with a lot of the farming individuals who utilize the Farm Bill programs and we were impressed and appreciate how knowledgeable he was and how receptive he was to their concerns.”
