Rep. Kissell Visits Allen's General Store

PEACHLAND, NC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) made another stop in Anson County last week, joining a group for lunch at Allen's General Store in Peachland.

Kissell was joined by Peachland Mayor Richard Allen, Allen’s wife Laura, Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen, Anson County Sheriff Captain Billy Dunn, Anson County Sheriff Majors Charlie Little and Milt Pegram, Betty Bowers, Allen Griffin, David Kiker and Eloise Harrington.

The group discussed topics including the need for a left turn access on US74 in Peachland near the store and ways to encourage the state to prioritize the turn access, the importance of protecting poultry and animal producers in legislation, including the 2012 Farm Bill, and pursuing federal funding for the Anson County Emergency Operations Center.

“I enjoy any time I get to spend in Anson County," Kissell said. "Small, community conversations are a great way to find out what people's concerns and needs are, and I take every opportunity I can to be a part of such discussions. Far more solutions to our nation's problems can be found over lunch at Allen's General Store and the hundreds and hundreds of other places like it across our district than will ever come out of Washington."

Allen expressed his appreciation for Congressman Kissell’s continued support of Anson County, and was happy to have the Congressman stop in for a visit.

“We were honored to have him stop by our store and visit with us. He is a regular customer and we are always excited to see him come through,” said Allen. “We know he has a hard agenda and we appreciate his commitment to looking out for the people in our community. He always looks out for everybody, not just the special interest groups."
