Rep. Kissell Joins Cabarrus Parks Department for 40th Anniversary

CONCORD, NC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) joined county residents and officials for the 40th Anniversary of the Cabarrus County Parks Department at Frank Liske Park on Friday evening. The event also marked the 30th anniversary of Frank Liske Park, the first park developed by the department in 1982.

“It is an honor to be here to help celebrate this great milestone for Cabarrus County Parks and the people of our community,” said Kissell. “The staff at the Parks Department has done a wonderful job of keeping our parks beautiful and continue to provide countless opportunities for area children and families to learn and spend time outdoors.”

The anniversary event highlighted the work done by the Parks Department since it opened in 1972, when it consisted of two staff members helping to organize a baseball league. Today, county parks offer 742 acres of parks land and numerous educational opportunities in nature preservation and land and aquatic wildlife, as well as recreational youth sports leagues.

“We’re blessed to live in this part of the world, and our local parks serve as perfect examples of what our area has to offer,” added Kissell. “Whether through youth sports teams or enrolling your children in nature hikes or fishing lessons, I urge folks to continue to be a part of the parks community and enjoy all of the opportunities that our parks provide.”
