Rep. Kissell Announces Funding for Richmond County Water Treatment Plant

ROCKINGHAM, NC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) announced Thursday that Richmond County will receive funding to expand its water treatment plant. The funding was secured through the Department of Agriculture Rural Development program to provide assistance for public facilities.

“This grant of $459,400 will help give Richmond County the ability to expand the water treatment facility and provide families in Richmond County a vital service,” said Kissell. “It is essential to have a reliable, safe water treatment facility. I’m glad to have worked to help secure this funding and ensure that our tax dollars are coming home to provide our communities with a service we rely on, day in and day out.”

Richmond County Commissioner Kenneth Robinette thanked Kissell for supporting the project and discussed the impact the expansion of the water treatment plant will have on Richmond County.

“We are very proud to have received the funding to expand our facility which will provide a great service to the town of Ellerbe,” said Robinette. “This is the best project for economic development for Richmond County and will strengthen the cooperation between the county, Ellerbe and Rockingham. It is a great day for Richmond County and we appreciate Congressman Kissell’s support of the project.”

The project will include the construction of a three-story addition to the existing control building, two new sedimentation basins, three flocculation basins, filters with media, clarifier, flash mixer, air scour in all plant filters, air condition filter system, various new electrical and mechanical controls, piping, yard lighting, and necessary appurtenances.
