WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) joined Meals on Wheels’ campaign to deliver Mother’s Day cards to mothers across the nation this week. Kissell signed cards during an event as part of Meals on Wheels’ effort to help raise awareness of the ongoing issue of hunger among seniors nationwide.

“This wonderful organization provides our seniors and homebound people with reliable delivery of hot meals, and I’m very glad to join them in thanking those who are mothers for all they’ve done and continue to do,” said Kissell. “This event gives us the opportunity to send along well-wishes this Mother’s Day and help bring additional attention to the important issues that so many of our seniors face.”

Each card that was signed at the event will be hand delivered along with a hot meal this Mother’s Day to homebound seniors throughout the nation.

“I have been fortunate enough to go on delivery routes with Meals on Wheels in our district and meet the folks who rely on this amazing program,” said Kissell. “It’s such an uplifting experience. In addition to the meals, the daily conversations that our seniors have with volunteers have a great impact on their health, and the benefits spread far beyond just the meals.”
