ALBEMARLE, NC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) visited with residents, staff and volunteers at the Lutheran Home nursing and assisted living center in Albemarle recently, speaking with a group of seniors about local issues and to hear their concerns.
“Our seniors come from a generation of hard workers, and they dedicated their lives to the wellbeing of their families and our nation,” said Kissell. “It's only right that we continue to look out for them and do all we can to keep them healthy and well. It's very important that we protect Social Security and Medicare and ensure that affordable and effective healthcare and assisted living facilities are available for our parents, grandparents and all who came before us.”
The Lutheran Home has offered nursing and assisted living, as well as short and long-term rehabilitation, in Albemarle since 1971. Many of the residents spoke with Kissell about their health, as well as their families, including many who told Kissell about the tradition of military service in their families.
“Those who make up our Greatest Generation are truly are my heroes, and these folks serve as a reminder to us all of the sacrifice and contributions those before us have made,” added Kissell. “The services that assisted living facilities can provide are essential to our seniors and those in rehabilitation, and I thank the staff and volunteers here for doing all they can to provide these folks with the dignity and care they deserve.”
