WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) welcomed local members of the American Legion to his office in Washington recently to discuss federal funding for the military and veterans, as well as issues facing local veterans.
“It’s always an honor and a privilege to meet with members of our American Legion, who so bravely served our nation,” Kissell said. “The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary serve as an integral part of the community, particularly with such a large population of veterans here in the Eighth District. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I remain committed to providing our veterans with the services they need and honoring the men and women of our armed forces and their families who sacrifice so much for us each and every day.”
The visiting group included Rockingham resident and Legislative Commission Chairman Jeff Joyner, Lexington resident and National Executive Committeeman Jerry Hedrick and his wife Marie, Director of the American Legion Riders chapter Dick Neville and his wife Sharon, and Martha Corriher and Wanda Moore of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Joyner has served as Past Department Commander of the American Legion Post 147 in Rockingham, and now serves as Legislative Commission Chairman for the state. Following the meeting, Joyner and others within the group thanked Kissell for his continued support of veterans and members of the military.
“We appreciate Congressman Kissell taking the time to listen to the concerns of the American Legion,” said Joyner. “He was clearly informed about the issues and addressed our concerns to our satisfaction. We left the meeting with feeling very reassured about his continued support for our military and veterans.”
