MONROE, NC –Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) spent time with officials and workers at Turbomeca Manufacturing in Monroe last week, hearing their concerns and discussing the work done at the facility. Turbomeca Manufacturing designs and manufactures precision parts for helicopter engines, including many used by the U.S. Military and the Department of Homeland Security.
“Our manufacturing sector is vital to the American economic recovery, helping to fuel other sectors and create additional jobs and opportunity in so many other areas and industries,” said Kissell. “North Carolina can be proud of the aerospace and aviation industries here in Union County. I learned a lot from workers here on the shop floor, discussing the work they do and the tools and environment they need in order for their business, and their working families, to be successful. The work being done here not only helps our local economy, but also the men and women who protect our nation and keep us safe.”
Turbomeca’s facility in Monroe opened in June of 2008 and employs more than 100 people. Matt Nelson, Turbomeca Manufacturing President and CEO, talked with Kissell about the challenges of our global economy and the importance of promoting American made products and the businesses that produce them.
“I’m glad I had the opportunity to hear from Matt and his team about their success and how they have expanded Turbomeca's presence to employ more Americans,” added Kissell. “It’s so important that we make sure our military equipment and machinery is made right here in America, providing both economic safety and the safety and security of our troops.”
