LAURINBURG, NC – Congressman Larry Kissell (NC-08) met with Nancy Walker, Executive Director of the Laurinburg Housing Authority, during an all-day visit to Scotland County earlier this week.
Kissell met with LHA staff and heard from Walker about concerns regarding possible Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) budget changes in light of recent spending cuts.
“There is such great work being done here in Laurinburg to help provide safe and reliable housing for low-income families, seniors and people with disabilities,” said Kissell. “As we work to rein in spending, we need to make sure that the effective and successful programs, like the one right here in Scotland County, are protected from any dangerous cuts. I’ll continue to fight to bring the funding we need directly to the local programs of our district, where it can be spent wisely and effectively.”
Kissell spent the day Monday throughout Scotland County, attending the Chamber Legislative Breakfast in the morning, as well as touring the Restoring Hope Center later that same day.
