Kissell Announces USDA Rural Development Loan for Hoke Health Facility

CONCORD, NC - Today, Congressman Larry Kissell (NC-08) announced $38.4 million in funding for Health Pavilion Hoke, an ambulatory and outpatient care facility to be built in Hoke County. The loan is funded partially through the Recovery Act and was secured through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program.

"This facility will improve the community by creating jobs and improving the available level of health care services," said Kissell. "I'm so proud to have helped secure this important funding to bring accessible medical care to the people of Hoke County."

Health Pavilion Hoke will be operated by Cape Fear Valley Health Systems.

“The approval of this $38 million loan from the United States Department of Agriculture is good news for the residents of Hoke County," said Mike Nagowski, CEO of Cape Fear Valley. "I want to thank Congressman Larry Kissell for his help in securing this loan. Cape Fear Valley has received state approval to build Health Pavilion Hoke, an outpatient facility that would provide urgent care, digital x-ray, digital mammography, ultrasound, pharmacy, family practice and medical specialties.”

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has visited the 8th District twice in the last 18 months at Kissell's request to see the needs of the district, including the need for expanded rural health care facilities, such as the one this loan well help to finance.
