Congressman Kissell Rejects Plans for Privatizing Social Security and Dismantling Medicare

(Stanly News & Press)

WASHINGTON - Congressman Larry Kissell (NC-08) adamantly rejected today any plans that would privatize Social Security and dismantle Medicare.
“It is unacceptable that these proposals would even be considered, especially during these tough economic times. The plans being proposed by some of my Republican colleagues would endanger our seniors and take away the stability and security as well as the peace of mind that Social Security and Medicare have provided to generations of folks who have worked hard and paid into the system,” Kissell said. “This is the time both parties should be working together to protect Social Security and Medicare. I made a commitment to protect our seniors, and I will not waiver in that conviction. I will not stand by and let anyone put our seniors at risk.”
