Military Mental Health Screening

We need to do more to make sure that the Minnesota men and women who served their country are able to live happy, productive lives when they return home.  Nearly 20 percent of returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or depression. The best determination of whether a person is suffering from either of these illnesses is a face-to-face screening by a trained health professional. The mental health of our fighting men and women is a top priority for Senator Franken. He will continue to advocate on their behalf until the shortfalls in the military’s system of identifying and caring for post-traumatic stress injuries is eliminated.
