As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Franken represents Minnesota's voice in the confirmation of Supreme Court nominees. When she was nominated, Sonia Sotomayor had more experience as a judge on the federal bench than any other nominee in more than a century. Before that, she was a skilled prosecutor, winning cases that took murderers and child pornographers off of the streets and behind bars.
Senator Franken strongly supported President Obama's nomination of Justice Sonia Sotomayor to the highest court in the land. And he believes that Justice Sotomayor's appointment will further the protection of the individual rights and liberties that all Minnesotans hold so dear.
