Supreme Court Nominees

The Supreme Court is an extremely important institution, one that affects the lives of all Minnesotans and all Americans.  I have been concerned to watch the current Supreme Court consistently side with corporations over individual Americans, including in Citizens United, where the Court overturned a century of precedent to give corporations unlimited power to spend in our elections.  Sadly, that decision is only the latest in a string of decisions in favor of the special interests that have chipped away at the rights of American voters, employees, women, and small business owners. That, I believe, is the definition of judicial activism.

I was proud to support President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.  I look forward to reviewing the President's newest Supreme Court Nominee, Solicitor General of the United States Elena Kagan.
