House Republican Policy Committee

 

The House Republican Policy Committee is the principal forum for the development of forward-looking and principled policy solutions. Established in 1949 by the House Republican Conference, the RPC is a place for Republicans in the House to generate quality legislative proposals.

 

Most recently the Republican Policy Committee was chaired by Congressman Thaddeus McCotter (MI-11). Rep. McCotter served as chairman for the 110th and 111th Congresses.

 

In the 112th Congress House Republicans elected Chairman Price (GA-06) who will work diligently on common sense solutions that speak for the American people remove barriers to economic growth, balance the budget, reduce the size and scope of government, implement patient-centered health care reforms, and keep the country safe. We will honor our Pledge to America and work tirelessly to ensure that the ideas championed in the House reflect America’s founding principles.

 

Chairman Price

 

Congressman Tom Price was first elected to represent Georgia’s 6th district in November 2004. Prior to going to Washington, Price served four terms in the Georgia State Senate – two as Minority Whip. In 2002, he was a leader in the Republican renaissance in Georgia as the party took control of the State House, with Price rising to become the first Republican Majority Leader in the history of Georgia. 

 

In Congress, Rep. Price has proven to be a vibrant leader, tireless problem solver and the go-to Republican on quality health care policy. He sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Budget Committee. In the 112th Congress, Price was elected by his colleagues to serve as the fifth ranking Republican in the House as the Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee.  Previously, he served as chairman of the Republican Study Committee.  Committed to advancing positive solutions under principled leadership, Price has been a fierce opponent of government waste and devoted to limited government and lower spending.

 

For nearly twenty years, Rep. Price worked in a private practice as an orthopedic surgeon. Before coming to Washington he returned to Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Price was also Medical Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, teaching resident doctors in training. He received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Michigan and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Emory University.

 

Congressman Price with his wife, Elizabeth, and son reside in Roswell, GA.
