Throughout the course of American history, courageous men and women have taken up arms to secure, defend, and maintain the core principles upon which our nation's freedoms depend: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Today there are more than 25 million living veterans who served our nation in times of peace and war. These veterans have diverse religious beliefs and come from varying backgrounds and ethnicities. By their service, they kept America strong, and they have protected our way of life from tyranny's grip for over two centuries. Our nation will always be grateful for their service and the noble sacrifices made by these veterans.

VeteransHaving numerous veterans in Georgia’s Third Congressional District, I am always working to ensure veterans nationwide have the tools, resources, and care they need.  For that reason, I have cosponsored several pieces of veteran-specific legislation focused on issues of importance, ranging from taxes to healthcare to employment.  Protecting the veterans who so bravely protected our nation when called to action is one of my top priorities while in Washington.

During my time in both the Georgia State House and the U.S. House of Representatives, I have met with many active and retired members of the Armed Forces throughout the state of Georgia, and each time it reminds me about the sacrifices that our veterans, active duty, reserve, and National Guard personnel have made to protect our freedom. Addressing issues that affect veterans and active service men and women is one of my top priorities. Our freedom would not be a possibility without the prior service of veterans and our brave armed forces stationed around the world today.
