  2. The fiscal cliff isn't the only issue that Congress needs to resolve before the end of the year. What issue is most important to you? Take my survey and let me know what you think.
  3. Catch my interview about preventing the nation from heading over the "fiscal cliff" on Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer tonight on Current TV at 8pm ET/5pm PT. Click "Like" if you agree with me that Republicans should extend middle class tax cuts immediately, which would resolve half of the "fiscal cliff."

  4. Every year, the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation honors three Americans for their single instance of bravery, lifetime of service to others, or acts of courage and selflessness. Please celebrate the heroism that symbolizes the American spirit by nominating an unsung American hero that you know.

  7. Congratulations to Whittier's Jordan Elementary School teacher Julie Borsari for being named a Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year. Thank you for your service to our children and community!
  8. Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
  9. Honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve as Second Vice-Chair on the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Congratulations to new CHC Chairman Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (TX-15), new First Vice Chair Rep. Ben Ray Luján (NM-3), and Congresswoman-elect Michelle Luján Grisham (NM-1), who will serve as Whip.
  10. Today, the CHC welcomes 9 new Latino lawmakers and votes on its new leadership!
  11. Immigration reform is important, but pocketbook issues--like creating good paying jobs and access to affordable and quality healthcare--matter more to Latinos. Check out my new blog post on Huffington Post.
  12. This Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe and protecting our freedoms. Let us pause today to offer our deepest thanks to all those who have served or are currently serving in our Armed Forces. We must honor their service not just this day, but every day.
  13. Very saddened by the passing of Larry Van Nostran. Larry was the longest-serving council member in Lakewood's history and a 9-time Mayor of Lakewood. Larry loved Lakewood and worked his hardest to make Lakewood a great place to live and work. He was the very definition of "dedicated public servant," and I will miss working with him. My deepest sympathies to his wife Charlene, his sons Dennis and David, and Larry’s many family members.
