April 15, 2007: Veterans Health Care Conference

Congressman Dan Burton held a Veterans’ Health Care Conference at the New Fort Harrison Veterans Center. Following the Conference, the Veterans Center held an open house. Sammy L. Davis, a recipient of the Medal of Honor in 1968 for his bravery while serving with the United States Army in Vietnam, was on hand to address the crowd. The new Veterans Center houses several veterans’ service organizations. These groups have participated in the renovation of the building, along with donations and support from several contractors who donated labor and materials.

Burton stated, “It is extremely important that we as a nation take care of our veterans who sacrificed so much for our country. I decided it would be appropriate to hold a Veterans Health Care Conference that will not only allow Hoosier veterans to learn more about the resources available to them from the Department of Veterans Affairs, but also give them the chance to share their concerns with their elected Representative in Washington.”

“I am grateful to all the groups associated with the new Fort Harrison Veterans Center for hosting this conference in their newly renovated facility” Burton continued.
