Much of America's growth and future prosperity are tied to our transportation infrastructure. The federal gas tax was initially proposed to build the nation's interstate system. This has long since been completed and yet the federal gas tax continues. The federal gas tax should revert directly to the states without ever coming to Washington, D.C., where it pits states against each other and flows into a political process that rewards Congressional tenure over the merit of any given project.
