Washington, Oct 6, 2008 -

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s largest small-business group, named U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller (FL-01) a Guardian of Small Business for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 110th Congress.

NFIB's voting record tallies twelve key small-business votes in the U.S. House of Representatives taken during the 2007 and 2008 sessions. Issues range from tax relief, to affordable health care, to liability reform, to regulatory reform. In all, NFIB bestowed Guardian awards to 252 senators and representatives who voted favorably on key small business issues during the 110th Congress at least 70 percent of the time. The NFIB Key Votes are chosen from the issues NFIB members identify in their member ballot responses and included the Employee Free Choice Act of 2007, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2007, the Taxpayer Assistance and Simplification Act of 2008, and the Economic Rescue/Tax Extenders Package.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is the nation’s largest small-business advocacy group. A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB represents the consensus views of its 600,000 members in Washington and all 50 state capitals.
