  7. As you may remember, my office participates in the Congressional Internship Program for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities each semester. The program works in conjunction with George Mason University's LIFE Program, and gives interns the opportunity to assist my staff with various office tasks. Today was our Fall semester intern's last day. Thank you, Ryan, for all of your hard work!

Today the House is voting on H.R. 6429, the STEM Jobs Act, which will award 55,000 visas to foreign graduates of U.S. universities with doctoral and masters degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This legislation, by my colleague Lamar Smith from Texas, will boost our nation’s access to top talent and sources of creativity that will create more jobs.

  12. Yesterday I met with the Texas Association of Business President, Bill Hammond, to discuss the looming fiscal cliff. During our discussion, we agreed that any package passed by Congress must prioritize job creation and economic growth.

  18. Last night I was delighted to join my colleagues in honoring my dear friend from Rockwall, Congressman Ralph Hall, as he became the oldest known Member of Congress to cast a vote on the House floor.
