Dear Friends:

Hurricane season for North Carolina runs from June 1st through November 30th, with peak activity occurring August through October. Since 1996, North Carolina has been affected by at least 8 hurricanes and many more tropical storms and remnants of hurricanes as they passed over the area. The need for hurricane preparedness reminders is essential.

Taking early precautions, as well as having an evacuation plan, is of paramount importance to minimize damage and to maintain family stability and coordination during hurricane season. Each household and business should devise a plan of action detailing where to go if there is a hurricane, especially for those who are in need of special assistance. These plans should not be postponed until danger is imminent.

I want to provide as much information as possible to ensure you have the necessary tools and resources to keep your families and homes safe. I have compiled a number of helpful links and resources from federal agencies where you can find more in-depth information on how to prepare for a potential hurricane.

Important local telephone numbers to help you and your family be prepared for this hurricane season are included here:

DISTRICT EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS

The most important things you can do to minimize damage and keep you and your loved ones safe are to STAY INFORMED and BE PREPARED for multiple scenarios.

Please feel free to contact either of my District offices if you need further information or assistance.

Sincerely,

FirstName
