Includes Provision to Protect A-10s in Fort Wayne

Washington, D.C. —U.S. Congressman Mike Pence voted today in support of H.R. 4310, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 National Defense Authorization Act. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 299 to 120.

"The first priority of the federal government is to provide for the common defense," said Pence. "The FY 2013 National Defense Authorization Act gives our men and women in uniform the support they need to defend our nation and come home safe. In doing so, this legislation carefully balances the current fiscal situation in Washington, D.C., with the numerous security challenges we face as a nation.

"I am especially pleased that this legislation preserves Air National Guard aircraft and personnel levels at FY 2012 levels. This will protect our men and women who fly the A-10 with the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana National Guard in Fort Wayne. Today's legislation also will encourage economic development at the former Indiana Army Ammunition Depot in southern Indiana. The National Defense Authorization Act is important for Indiana and our nation, and I strongly support it."
