4-17-2012 - Pence Supports Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012 |
Washington, DC—U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, voted today in support of legislation to protect recreational hunting and fishing on federally managed land. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 274 to 146. "I have long believed that recreational anglers and hunters are the strongest supporters of conservation and wildlife management because of their passion for the outdoors," said Pence. "Yet, all too often sportsmen are unable to find areas to hunt and fish. "Those who seek to enjoy the outdoors on public land should be met with a 'Welcome' sign, and I am proud to support this commonsense, bipartisan legislation."
