Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike Pence today invited high school students in the Sixth Congressional District to enter their best artwork in the 2012 Congressional Art Competition. The winning pieces will be displayed in the Cannon tunnel of the U.S. Capitol building for a full year. The submission deadline is April 20, 2012.

"As the husband of an art teacher, the Congressional Art Competition is a favorite part of my job," said Pence. "Having been to many of the high schools throughout the Sixth Congressional District, I know the depth of the talent students in eastern Indiana possess and look forward to seeing their entries."

There are seven categories: paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art and photography. Submitted artwork should be no larger than twenty-eight inches by twenty-eight inches and no more than four inches deep, including frame. The artwork must be the student's original concept.

The competition is open to students in the 9th-12th grades. Complete information is posted online under Constituent Services at mikepence.house.gov. Please review the competition guidelines and include the Student Information & Release Form that is posted online. Send to Rep. Pence's Muncie district office (107 West Charles Street, Muncie, IN 47305).
