3-1-2012 - Pence Condemns Iran for Continued Persecution of Iranian Pastor PDF Print

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement after the House passed H. Res. 556, a bill Pence cosponsored that condemns the Government of Iran for its continued persecution of Youcef Nadarkhani on the charge of apostasy:

"I am deeply disturbed by the Iranian government's continued persecution of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani on account of his Christian faith. His imprisonment is an affront to all those who value human rights, dignity and religious freedom. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has shown great courage in spite of his sentence and has never wavered in his commitment to his faith. Let us keep him and his family in our prayers, as well as all of those in Iran and around the world who are persecuted for their religious beliefs."
