Energy
I support a strong comprehensive national energy plan that promotes America's economic growth, boosts innovation to create well-paying jobs in Minnesota, and retools our economy for the 21st century. Minnesota is uniquely positioned to become a global leader in clean energy production. Whether it's harnessing the wind in Pipestone, growing the next generation of biofuels in Willmar, or tapping into geothermal energy in Appleton, Minnesota is ready to lead. I will continue to promote policies that help Minnesota's production of wind, biomass, and biofuels continue to grow.
It's also important to remember that energy efficiency presents an incredible opportunity to significantly reduce our carbon emissions and create good paying jobs that cannot be outsourced. All of our residential, commercial, and industrial facilities should be renovated with the best available energy-efficient windows, lighting, and building materials, many of which are being manufactured in Minnesota. New buildings should meet stringent energy efficiency codes. And we need to expand use of waste heat through proven technologies like "combined heat and power" and "district energy" systems. As Congress considers energy legislation, I will continue to push for strong energy efficiency measures.
