Unemployment Insurance

Senator Franken is committed to keeping unemployment benefits flowing to those families who, by no fault of their own, have been hardest hit by this recession. The downturns that strike the American economy can have a long-lasting effect on Minnesota's families long after Wall Street sees improvements. That is why Senator Franken will always fight to protect and extend federal unemployment benefits when there are Minnesotans out there who need help putting food on the table and paying for their kids' medicine. In December, Senator Franken helped lead an effort to ensure that the federal emergency unemployment benefit program will continue until at least the end of 2011.
