Unions have historically been strong defenders of America's working families, and have helped to ensure that a hard day's work earns a good day's pay and that a lifetime of work earns a secure and comfortable retirement. That's why Senator Franken, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, believes that we must support workers' right to choose whether or not to organize and collectively bargain. In the 111th Congress, he cosponsored the Employee Free Choice Act just hours after being sworn in. The Employee Free Choice Act would make it easier for workers who want to organize to do so without harassment or intimidation, as many unfortunately face today. It would impose real penalties on employers who interfere with the right of their employees to organize. Senator Franken will continue advocating for the rights of workers in the 112th Congress.
