Joint Select Committee On Deficit Reduction
Looming over any discussion of the economy, job creation, and stimulus is the fact is that we face a deep and real structural deficit.
In August, Sen. Franken supported legislation that created a Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. The Committee, made up of 12 members of both parties from the House and Senate, is charged with making recommendations to reduce our deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next decade. Their proposal is due by November 23, and Congress must hold an up or down vote on their recommendations by December 23.
