Flag Requests
Congressman Ruppersberger is pleased to assist constituents of the 2nd District of Maryland in requesting American flags that have been flown over the Capitol Building. These can be dedicated to any person, organization or event of your choice. Flags can also be flown on any specific date, including weekends and holidays. Each flag is individually boxed and includes a certificate of dedication and authenticity.
There is a nominal fee for a flag. The price varies according to the size and material of the flag you request. Once your request is received, Congressman Ruppersberger's staff will contact you to verify your request and provide necessary payment information.
Care of the Flag
Most outdoor flags can be washed in mild detergent and thoroughly rinsed. Indoor and parade flags should be dry-cleaned. Damaged flags can be repaired and utilized as long as the overall dimensions are not noticeably altered. American Legion Posts and local governments often have facilities to dispose of unserviceable flags. Store your flag in a clean, well ventilated area.
