It has been my honor and privilege to serve the people of Massachusetts for the last two decades. While my staff and I will continue our work for you until the very last day of the 112th Congress, my impending retirement has necessitated a few changes in the way communication with both my Washington and District offices can be conducted at the end of the year.

The House Leadership will take possession of my Washington office at 1111 Longworth on Thursday, November 29 to make room for incoming Members of the 113th Congress.  Beginning November 29, my Washington operations will be somewhat constrained as we transition to a smaller, temporary space.  I will continue to represent the residents of the First Congressional District in Congress through January 2, 2013, but will have very limited capabilities to respond to policy comments and incoming mail during my final weeks as a Congressman.

While my district offices will remain open to take calls and answer questions through Friday, December 21, they will be unable to take any new constituent cases after Friday, November 30.   If you require assistance with a federal agency after November 30 please contact Senator John Kerry at (202) 224-2742.

The 113th Congress will be sworn in on January 3, 2013.

Thank you again for allowing me to represent you for so many years, and for the warmth and support you have shown me as my service draws to a close. I value your input, and I appreciate your patience with the logistical challenges we face at this time.
