STANDING UP FOR AMERICA'S WORKERS

Last week, the House passed a trade agreement with Peru. Along with 131 of my colleagues, I voted against the agreement, which I believe will hurt working families. Unfortunately, it passed by a 285-132 vote.

Supporting Equal Rights for All

Earlier this month, the House considered the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA, H.R. 3685) to prohibit this type of discrimination. I proudly voted for this legislation, which passed the House by a vote of 235-184.

Last fall, the American people demanded a new direction for Iraq. Last week, the House of Representatives took a concrete step toward bringing our troops home. By a 223-201 margin, the House passed the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act.

Response to the State of the Union

I hoped President Bush would during last night’s State of the Union announce the end of the Iraq War. Instead, he again pledged to escalate the war and proposed policies that would further raise health care costs for working families.
