Quigley Statement on House Passage of DREAM Act PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 09 December 2010 08:38

WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Mike Quigley (IL-05) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act, a bill that gives all students who have grown up in the United States a chance to attend college or serve in the Armed Forces.

“The DREAM Act embodies the core American values of opportunity and service.  Its passage is a testament to our continued commitment to these ideals, as well as a belief in our children—children who only want to better this country and protect it.  Today, we made significant strides in making the United States more just, more secure, and more competitive for future generations.  I look forward to the day when we do so on a much greater scale by passing Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”

Earlier in the day, Quigley spoke on the House floor in support of the DREAM Act.  The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
