The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

In February 2009, Congress passed and President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into Law.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is an unprecedented effort to jump start our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century. The Recovery and Reinvestment Act is an extraordinary response to a crisis unlike any since the Great Depression and contains targeted investments that will transform our economy with science and technology; modernize roads, bridges, transit and waterways; improve education for the 21st century; lower health care costs; help workers hurt by the economy; and protect vital services.  It also contains tax cuts for 95% of Americans and is expected to create or save thousands of jobs in the 16th District of Texas.

I have included resources below to help the people of the 16th District of Texas take full advantage of the funding that will be available through a variety of agencies.  If you have any questions or need any additional information feel free to contact my office at 202-225-4831.

To date El Paso has received over $1 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
