Lieberman, Collins Joint Statement on Hurricane Isaac

WASHINGTON—Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Ranking Member Susan Collins, R-ME., Friday issued the following joint statement on the response by local, state and federal governments to Hurricane Isaac.

“Our deepest gratitude goes to the men and women who are risking their lives and working tirelessly to provide a swift and safe response to Hurricane Isaac. With Isaac’s landfall coming on the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the efforts by local, state and the federal governments are a testament to the significant strides we’ve made in planning for and responding to disasters. As the lessons learned from Katrina inform the response to and recovery from Hurricane Isaac, there will continue to be difficult challenges that will have to be addressed head on.”

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with those suffering from Hurricane Isaac’s devastation.”
